See renderings of the new Meta glasses, allegedly made from photos
If the model is accurate, it indirectly confirms the transition in Project Cambria to a new optical system
Blogger and VR enthusiast SadlyItsBradley claims to have seen photos of real Project Cambria goggles, and then, together with a 3D modeler, made a model of them and its screenshots, which he generously shares on the Internet.
According to him, the product has reached the stage of design tests (DVT, Design Validation Test) – this stage usually precedes the last, production tests, after which mass production begins. At this stage, only minor parts of the product can change.
Bradley talked about the many cameras, including a quad-sensor array behind the front cover that hides two RGB cameras and two other sensors that could theoretically be responsible for depth perception.
In the renders, the compactness of the optics block compared to the Quest 2 is especially noteworthy. If the model is accurate, it indirectly confirms the transition in Project Cambria to a new optical system.
Cambria was shown by Meta last year. The device was then modeled by basti564 and is designed as high-end and multifunctional. It will not replace Quest 2 or Quest 3 (the company first mentioned this name publicly), but will be more expensive. It will be equipped with all the advanced technologies available for the consumer market, including tracking of different parts of the body and facial expressions, Passthrough color mode, thin pancake optics and other innovations.
