Qualcomm has announced the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1
The first smartphones with the new chip will be released in the third quarter of this year
Qualcomm has announced a pumped-up Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. They promise HDR gaming with 10-bit depth of color depth and 8K HDR shooting on cameras up to 64 MP.
The architecture of the cores has not changed, but the clock speeds have risen: the high-power Cortex-X2 core can now produce 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A710 – 2.8 GHz, and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 – 2.0 GHz.
The company says processor and graphics speeds have increased by 10% and energy efficiency has improved by 30%. The first smartphones with the new chip will be released in the third quarter of this year.
Key partners include Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, OSOM, Eealme, RedMagic, Redmi, Civo, Xiaomi and ZTE.
Snapdragon XR2 Smart Viewer AR glasses will be shown. Unlike the first version, the new generation does not require a USB-C connection cable to the smartphone. Wireless synchronization – delay of about 20 ms.
The glasses have two microOLED screens with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. At the corners are two cameras that monitor the position of the hands.
The headset will not go on sale. This is a prototype for Qualcomm partners who develop AR glasses.
