Decentraland is hosting the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week with brands
Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW), the first fashion event in history to take place in the metaverse, is scheduled for March 24-27 at Decentraland. More than fifty prominent names in the fashion industry, such as Dolce & Gabbana, Dundas, Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Saab and Etro, visited the MVFW.
These brands can choose between showcasing their new collection or redesigning existing collections on a virtual reality platform. In addition, the designers will also present digital native names such as DressX, Auroboros and The Fabricant, which will host shows on the runway.
As mentioned earlier, Metaverse Fashion Week will be held on Decentraland – a 3D virtual platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. This allows users to research, buy and sell real estate, interact with others and play games.
Registration for the MVFW is free, but you need an Ethereum wallet to make purchases during the event.
Meanwhile, a digital retail space in the Centralland called the Boson Portal-Fashion District has opened up a luxurious shopping district that mimics the famous Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Here, each brand can sell their exclusive physical products like NFT, which can be purchased in metaverse stores.
Moreover, crypto-enthusiasts on Twitter continue to share their photos of MVFW during the first day of the catwalk. In one of them, Meta even responded to a tweet praising Dolce & Gabbana and Decentraland for “bright paths”.
On the other hand, co-founder of The Fabricant Amber Jay Slutten shared in an interview how important this virtual event is:
If this fashion week helps people get together online instead of flying around the world and creating all these physical items / waste to create 10-minute fashion shows, it will save a lot of valuable resources.
